    What'a "Ruby Murry" then?

    2 points here:

    1) I have seen some multi-pass XVid conversions of DVD Rips done that are absolutely breathtaking in terms of quality.

    2) If we're talking about rhyming slang I believe the word 'Berk' (pronounced 'Burk') is short for Berkeley Hunt, and we all know what that rhymes with. So next time you call someone a berk (which I guess is more common in the UK than anywhere else) don't be surprised if you end up with a broken jaw!

  4. And when you get down to it, isn't the MPEG-4 fundamentally different from MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 altogether, sharing little more than name alone, hence the reasoning it is still packed inside an AVI carrier file?
    It doesn't have to be. I have seen MPEG-4 with several extentions; .divx, .mp4, .mov, etc.

    I think that my movies that I'd exported to Apple's MPEG-4 look just as good as many MPEG-2 movies I've seen. A lot of the movies I've done as MPEG-4 that look great, it all just depends on how they are created.

  8. As someone earlier stated about 700 theatres (picture houses) in the US are to get new digital euqipment to enable them to use wm9. I dont know the details or whatever but surely screened stuff would be at 1920x1280 (or higher) and would be made to be the best quality, otherwise why dont picture houses just use a dvd as source?. Point being wmp9 I think is based on mpeg4. Soon all theatres will be fully digital.
    we'll never know about true mpeg4 quality until some company is brave enough to bring out a film mastered in divx/xvid/mov.

    ruby murray = curry

    going to to the "battle" now... guess that one..

    No. Back under OS 9 when I have to first convert to a Quicktime File before I authored as a VCD, I used Motion JPEG A Quicktime movies.

    battle = battle cruiser

    I am sure many people who bought divx capable dvdplayers will want to encode something just to test the full capabilitys of their hardware, as about the only site offering divx movies is divx.com

    Oh yes, OS9, I ran that back in the early 80s on a 6809 processor

    I'm jesting of course when I compare the two OS9s.

    the old one was multi-user/multi-tasking and could load from a floppy, I believe it was a company from the midwest.

    Cheers
