I'm a newbe concerning converting old VHS home movies to DVD and trying to learn the best way so please excuse my ignorance. It was suggested to me in another posting to capture my video using VirtualDUB. I'm rather inexperanced in using VirtualDUB. My question is, can you use filters in VDUB? If so, which ones should I use for the best capture for VHS, and how do you engage them? Which settings shold I use? I've been following this site for many months trying to learn as much as I can before starting this project. There is just so much to learn so I've decided to learn and understand each step in the process. Thanks for your help.

Hey Scuda. It can be overwhelming at first. Just hang in there and learn as much as you can. And ask lots of questions. We were all beginners at one time too.
I would recommend capturing without filters. Then use filters on the already captured file and frameserve it to your encoder. Forget about frameserving for now, but it will help to learn about that after you master capturing, basic editing, and using filters.
