Long time reader, first time poster here, so please me gentle...

I have been using VirtualVCR to capture old VHS tapes on a WinXp-AverTV Studio system with great results (due in great part to info in this site, major props and thanx to everybody!). Now I am trying to do the same on a different system, Win2K Pro-Directx 9.0b(installed following ATI's instructions)-ATI AIW 7500. When I capture with MMC 8.5, I get both audio and video, but using VirtualVCR I get audio, but no video (yes, I have tried both checking and unchecking the "smart tee" option in the View tab).

Has anybody had this problem? I looked all over the forums and didn't see anything...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The settings with VirtualVCR can be tricky.

Under settings>devices, is the correct input selected?

Also, under settings>tuner>tv tuner device, have you selected the correct country code and broadcast standard? The code for the USA is 1. You also need to update your channels, under the same tab.

The right input is selected (composite), the right country code is selected. I am starting to think that DirectX 9.0b is the culprit... is there some tool/utility to remove it? I cannot find an uninstall option anywhere...

There's no way to uninstall Directx, when you update. A clean OS install is the only way to get rid of it.

My system is configured similarly to yours and I also had trouble with VirtualVCR, in the past. I'm currently running win2k, sp2, DirectX 8.1, and the last set of ATI drivers before they went with DirectX 9 support.

Oh, well... I guess I'll have to bite the bullet, backup my stuff and re-install . Thanks for your help, though...
