What options are you using in Nero - DVD Video works well for me.

Try using a -rw till you get your problem sorted.

Don't think it is dvd2one problem.

Try using another burning program. I had a issue with Nero this week and switched to Copy2DVD and it worked great.

There are a couple of guides to the left which show the settings etc.
Also Mr Bass has a good burning guide on www.mrbass.org

Any chance you're using Nero 6.0.0.15??

That version introduces more new bugs than it fixes. I installed it and had it for two days before going back to 6.0.0.11 again. All the problems I experienced were fixed again when I went back to 6.0.0.11.

    Don't "up"grade to 6.0.0.15.

The symptoms I've had with 6.0.0.15 are as follows:

    1) Nero will reject compilation which is close to but *not* exceeding the stated and known capacity of the inserted disc as being too large to be burnt.

    2) The overburn feature is not offered in the case of 1) above even when it is enabled in the expert features section of options.

    3) The option to automatically blank a CD-RW (if necessary) before doing a burn is not offered at all meaning that you have to do it manually first.

Those three were more than enough for me as I frequently burn discs to 100+% of their stated capacity. Once I discovered these three things I went back to 6.0.0.11 again and normality is now restored thankfully.

There are many other bugs that others have noticed with 6.0.0.15 as well that I have heard from other forums I participate in but these are the only ones I personally experienced before deciding I didn't want 6.0.0.15 anymore.

I am afraid to say that 1. can happen under 6.0.0.11 too.

Best do not upgrade AT all at this time. Use 6.0.0.0 or another application altogether. I am quite surprised that Ahead put out such sloppy work as its new flagship version...

I hadn't heard that. Maybe it is drive specific or something. Certainly, I haven't personally experienced any problems with 6.0.0.11 as yet but your suggestion to view upgrades rather suspiciously at the moment I think is wise.

I think I'll stick with my current version until I find out that there is a real benefit to upgrading rather than simply upgrading for the sake of it.

You suggested using an alternative? I'd like to know what you consider as an alternative to the functionality of Nero. And don't you dare say EZCD

  9. well there are excellent freeware products out there. cdrdao, command line tools, etc.

Nothing as fancy as nero6 , though. But then again, I don't need fancyness, I need functionality. So ,e.g., when I make VCDs I use VCDEasy simply because it does the job, clean and quick. I do all my VCD Screens in Photoshop and do have quite extensive Menu structuring. Nero Vision Express simply just doesn't cut it, it's far too dumbed down to allow for the sort of "templating" I am doing in VCDEasy and besides, it's way too slow. I never used NERO to burn VCDs so far and I never will, I made 50+ VCDs with VCDEasy, including ISO files, complex navigation etc! and it never failed once.

For me NERO 6.0.0.11 and .15 in combination with a SONY DRX-510UL (USB 2.0 link used, WIN2k SP4) can show erratic behavior when burning DVD-R Video DVDs
    -> "Cannot close disc"
Oddly enough the DVD still will play fine in a DVD Player and can even be copied back to the HD without trouble. It seems the "Lead Out" last bit is in a state of limbo?

I use VCDEasy for VCD menu creation as well, though to be honest I always get it to create a bin/cue and then I burn that with Nero instead of using the built in CDRDAO. I don't really know why I do this actually - probably just because of the familiarity I have with Nero, doing it this way means I don't have to learn anything new, so it's easiest, though I doubt that CDRDAO is very difficult to learn.

Ahead have acknowledged that they stuffed up in a big way with v6.0.0.15 of Nero.

    From another forum...

Since Nero Burning Rome 6,0,0,15 is not to be over-burned it unfortunately any longer possible CDs. The support of Ahead makes however since short a Patch available for this problem. You get the Patch on request via email von Ahead dispatched.

There's a download link for the updater patch as well but I can't post that here.

  13. I had this problem with the newest version of Nero after I installed Pinnacle Instant Copy. I wasted several DVD-r's (wouldn't close) then uninstalled Instant Copy and "poof" problem was gone.

Yep, I agree, Nero 6.0.0.15 has a major problem with not closing a DVD either, and turning it into a coaster, the first part of a DVD plays, but the rest won't play

Tried 2 different media, burning at x4, x2 and even x1. Same problem, same error, same result

I think Ahead are going to lose customers over this ................

I'm using Copy2DVD, its not as useful, but at least it won't create coasters

  15. At first everything works with Nero 6.0.0.11 but then I started getting this same problem of not closing out disc. I can play them though with Apex, PS2 and GoVideo but not sure with other players. What I noticed is when I am burning multiple copies, I get this a lot. So instead of setting copies to many, I set to 1 then burns and closes properly, and then when burning is done, I don't select burn the same project but start a new one. So far it's working for me. This is a painful process though but it works.

Unfortunately last night, Nero cannot even detect my Sony DRX510UL. I changed my connection to firewire and was detected but I cannot write into it as Nero thinks some process is using the writer. There are no other applications running except Nero.
