do you want to make an audio track out of it and edit that, or do you want to keep it in midi and edit it?

if you use a midi sequencer, you'll be able to edit the file. you can find freeware ones at www.audiomelody.com

just find the spot where you want the file to end, and delete everything after...

it's going to depend on your sequencer, but most seqencers will show a grid, running left to right (from start to end), with blocks on that grid representing your instruments.

let's say you only wanted the first 8 bars of the music. you would go to bar 9, select everything from bar 9 to the end of the track, and delete it.

what sequencing program are you using?
