  1. Has anyone had problems with VCD builder 1.1.1? I tried running it on my G4 450 Mhz dual proc last night under OS 10.2.5, and I was able to put a disc program together. However, when I tried to create an image file or burn directly to disc, it would not let me get past step 2 of the encoding process. The program would also not let me save my work.

Does anyone know of any bugs with this software, particularly for OS 10.2.5? Thanks in advance…

Not sure, its working in 10.2.6 for me.
    Any reason not to upgrade?

    Galactica is right.
I use it under 10.26 ( been using since 10.24) and no problems
    with version 1.1.

Now, I will say this though: there are three things I know of that can stop
    VCD Builder at step 2:

    1. Not enough HD space where you are building the output, not from where the input is at...

    2. The MPEG-1 stream is corrupted or too badly out of spec
( audio not 22.1 khz, to many dropped frames in the MPEG, etc.....

    3. If, for any reason, you move a source file, or
change its name, while VCD Builder is compling for
VCD/SCVD. One time, I had accidentally thrown away my
"splash" image on a SVCD I was building in VCD Builder,
the end result was that it stopped at the start of stage 2.

perhaps one of these is your answer?

  4. Thanks for the replies, folks;

I have a feeling the problem is probably issue #2, but I’ll check all of them to be safe. I didn’t move any files when compiling (or at any other time during the process), so I doubt #3 is the issue. The file I’m using is a test mpeg which I’ve already burned a non-chaptered plain vanilla VCD with using Toast Titanium, but I’ll just go back to my source and recompress.

I don’t believe I have any disc space problems, but I’ve had to periodically defrag/clean up my system 9.2.2 partition when I’ve been working with video there so that my computer could “recognize” my free space. I’d like to run Norton Utilities on my 10.2.5 sector as well to clear up any potential difficulties on that side, but I don’t have a version specifically for OS X. In a separate but related question, does anyone know if I can run the version I’ve been using for 9.2.2 on my 10.2.5 section?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont do that! A non OSX compliant Norton will treat OSX as a foreign entity and really screw things up. Remember, in 9.2 OSX looks strange!!!!!!! Ever boot into OS9 and see all these wierd files laying around that you never see in X - these are REALLY IMPORTANT, the reason why you cant see them in X

you should get Norton Utilities 8.0 whihc is set for OSX.

otherwise, just update to 10.2.6 (ensure you repair all yoru permisions also, that will help.) I uually update, then run the repair permissions, and its suited me fine.

i think your solution is needing to update to 10.2.6
