  1. Hi

I am new to DVD burning and am experiencing a few problems. When i copy DVDs using DVD shrink.
The video quality of the copy is good and it plays without a problem until it gets to the last quarter of the movie. It is then that the picture and sound freeze. the DVD drive reads the DVD for several seconds and then the movie continues. It gets worse as you go towards the end of the movie. This not just one off, i have tried several DVDs.
    Could someone please help.
    Many thanks

  2. Sounds like you are using cheap media .... has all the classic signs.

    Try a good Ritek disk.

  5. One way to check is to play the VIDEO_TS folder on your HD prior to burning to DVDR. In my own hands there's nothing wrong with Princo media (do a forum search) but others disagree. Ritek is popular and very vew people seem to have problems. Ritek makes DVD-R (and other) media:

Always check the DVD before you burn it, will save many coasters.

RitekG04 media are top of the line, in my opinion.

And it sounds like you have a bad media issue.

  10. I think you have one of two problems.

Look closely at your disk, does it have were marks from a bad drive/player?
I recently burn a original content disk and took it to a party. All the people at the party were in the movie and that was the first time it was ever played. It had the same type of problem you are having. Thought great I picked a great time to burn a coaster. It locked at the end of the disk totally with about 5 mnute maye 15 to go in the movie!

Ok Latter I looked at the disk, it had wear spots from rubbing in my friends playstation. Grrr, one play ate my disk before it was even fished playng the first time!

    Or othe more likely problem,

    Baaddd Mediieee i ooo aa
    Bad medie eioo
    Bad media

Sorry, but they did it twooo////

  11. i'm not so sure that the problem is bad media (but i'm not saying it isn't !! ).
The think is (i have a toshiba drive and i use nero ) and some time i have the same problem , but i use verbatin media (and it's supose to be a god media, right ?!? ), also many time's when i make a copy of a movie and the a week later i try to make another copy of the disc (that i've recorded before) , when i try to copy the dvd-r to the harddrive almost every time the windows gives a error message and i'm unable to copy the disc and there for i can't duplicate it

    Does someone help me ?!?

I think the problem might be from the burning software !!! does anyone agrees ?!?

.... and in my opinion the same applies to the problem of "jazzjazz
    "

Bad media, bad drive, bad software...

But if it locks up near the end after playing most of the movie fine... it's bad media.

Go to www.shop4tech.com order you a 25 or 50 spindle of the RitekG04 discs. The 25 spindle is $54 including tax and shipping. That makes your cost per disc $2.16, now I don't know what you pay for the verbadum or whatever you use. But no matter what the price, reliablity and dependability for $2.16 each will be cheaper than 3 coasters, and headaches and still not having a DVD that will play right.

It can't be your burn process unless your DVD was too big for the disc and the burner couldn't close it, but your burning software won't let you do that usually. Also if it were your burn process you would notice it throughout the disc not just at the end. Sooooooooo.....me-me-me...

  14. k, thanks for advising me

But, what i would like to know is if everybody here (in this topic) can copy the full movie (recorded earlier in a blank dvd) into the hard disk without any kind of problems (error and stuff ).

P.s. I use winMe and i use the aspi drivers from the Os instalation.
Do you think that i should instal new aspi drivers ?!?

P.s.- I've just use ImgTool burn , and i have to say that the dvd-r seem a lot more "stable".....

    Yes.

WinME was a decent OS, I would suggest upgrading to XP Pro.

If you've got Nero, there's a utility called CD Speed that effectively tests the quality of the DVD. A nice, smooth, climbing curve means that your DVD drive on your PC can read the disk well.

"Jitters" on the graph mean the drive has struggled to get high-speed reads.

Yellow vertical bars mean recovered errors were encountered and red bars are unrecoverable errors.

Check the disks you burn on your DVD-ROM instead of your burned.

Riteks seem to be considered to be the best budget DVDRs. Verbs are good premium DVDRs and if you want top-notch, try the Pioneer ones at £5.00 each!

You can also do something similar with DVD Info Pro which is free (for the version with a the odd ad or pretty inexpensive for the ad-free version).
