Although I'm not a newbie to converting, I do have a sort-of newbie question - Time issues aside, will CPU usage during conversion affect the QUALITY of the video? - meaning, will increased CPU usage during the conversion (such as launching another program, etc) result in glitches, blocking, etc?

I would agree with that answer; from necessity, I have to use my computer for other things while it is encoding and I have never seen any problems on the resulting files. Just adds a bit of time...
The future is much like the present, only longer.
