2 story - keep the entry level tidy and throw your mess on the other level away from guests view. Not worried about the footprint, as long as the square footage of living space is the same.

If I never get a chance to sit strapped into an F-15 going straight up, at least I have a chance of riding one of those Tomahawks. Although, it's probably less likely than getting invited to "ride second seat" in an Eagle.
