  1. My PS2 plays DVD+RW ... but not the games , only movies.

I first thought that my ps2 couldn't read DVD+RW ; but I did a backup of a dvd movie , and this one works.
He doesn't boot it , but in the 'startscreen' , I can select the dvd+rw disc , and he played it .
So , now I know he CAN read DVD+RW .

But why can't I play PS2 game rips than ?
Is it the burnspeed , because all software writes only at 2,4 at least or even maximum ?

I'm a bit confused now , can somebody explain why the games don't work ?
It must have something to do with the booting , but why isn't he booting them , knowing that he can read DVD+RW ??

    BTW : I have a PAL V5 ps2 , with Messiah 1 modchip , and a Pioneer 106.

Burn the images to a +R or -R, not any type of RW. Its very hit or miss on what RW media works for games, but most -R or +R work well for PS2 games.

You need either a slide card and swap disk or the internal modchip route. Either way this is what you need to play PS-2 back-ups.

He has a chip, Messiah 1. Messiah 2 reads RW discs sometimes...but with Messiah 1, he can only play games burnt to -R or +R I think. I say just pick up some good R discs..specifically Ritek, or TDK, burn to those and never worry about it again. Ritek and TDK are great, my PS2 loves 'em.

Yep. Messiah1 has a hard time with RW media.

The reason movies work and not games is that the chip isn't doing anything for movies - the PS2 will play copied movies when you get it home from the store.

  6. Thank you guys .
I have done a ps2 game on DVD-R (Princo ;yes really ) , and it worked.

And now I now that the chip isn't involved in the movie-thing ,I have now questions anymore ( at the moment ).

    Thanks
