  1. Hi There.
I have an openDML AVI file.(non-standard AVI) Is there a tool with which I can convert it to any other standard format like mpeg or QuickTime?
    Thanks.

VirtualDub will read and write OpenDML AVIs, you can then frame serve it from VirtualDub an MPEG encoder. The guides for doing this can be found on this site (I think). You could also use AVISynth to feed your MPEG encoder.

It is alleged that TMPGenc can open large (i.e. OpenDML) AVIs but even in the most recent version I have never been able to get this to work properly; it always loses the sound about 10 minutes into the file.

  3. My miniDV camcorder captures are type 1 OpenDML avi files. I use TMPGenc to extract the audio as a wave file (file/save as/avi file/wav) and then use another tool to encode the audio from the wave file. Have never had a problem with out of sync audio doing it this way.

VirtualDub or TMPGenc can handle the video in an OpenDML avi. But I think VirtualDub can only handle audio in a type 2 OpenDML avi file.
