    Hi gurus,

I am trying to convert a HUGE avi file that i made from my sony digi camcorder using Windoze Movie Maker 2. The AVI file is fine...just big.

When i try to convert it in TMGENC i keep getting two output files instead of ONE mpeg2 file. The files i get are a .wav and m2v file.
All i want is a MPEG2 file so I can burn it to DVD.

I have tried adjusting settings and it doesnt seem to matter.
    Any ideas??

  2. I don't use Movie Maker but, some programs let you import the files seperate... I assume you tried that. What about just using Tegenc to mux them together.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

Movie Maker 2 is pretty good. You can save your files as AVI's (one file) instead of the MMV file or whatever Bill Gates calls them. This lets you make DVD's, VCD's etc...

The problem I have is that when i load the AVI into TMPgEnc it works great! The only problem i have is that it outputs the file into TWO seperate files. The .WAV and .M2V files.
Is there anyway to ONLY get the MPEG2 avi file output?

I have tried to put the .m2v and .wav back into Tmpgenc and get the MPEG2, but it still wants to make the seperate files again

im lost....maybe its a setup error??

You want the setting that will let you save it as a System file, this will have the extension .mpg

That will give you the audio and video multiplexed together

The easiest way is to cancel the wizard, and start again, but on the settings, set it to system, its the very first screen, if you don't use the wizard

    Try that

i will try that system setting....HOPEFULLY that does it!!

Are my settings for conversion setup correctly?

    I have:

Non interlace, Top Field first (A) and 1:1 setup.

    Is that right?

One more thing i forgot to mention.....
in the final "OUTPUT FILE" screen there is a box below it that is shadow checked, i cannot uncheck the box.

It says....ouput as seperate audio and video files. That is where my problem is, i just dont know how to remove it.

  6. gladesteen,

Instead of re-converting the file over again, use BeSweet to convert the .wav file to AC3. Next use TMPGEnc and close the wizard. Open MPEG Tools->Simple Multiplex. Load your M2V file and your converted AC3 file. Name the ouput file as "whatever".m2v. A few minutes later you should have a multiplexed m2v file with Dolby Digital sound

Also DO NOT choose 1:1 setup! You will end up with a small picture in the upper left corner of your TV (trust me from experience). Choose the NTSC or PAL setting depending on where you live. In the Advanced setting choose Full Screen.

Don't you want to name your System stream something besides
m2v ? That usually means video elementary stream.

  8. He select ES encode instead of PS encode he's fixing it now. As another poster suggested you really want to encode to ac3 (mp2 is ok for most but not all players) thou prior to authoring. The DVD template defaults to ES because thats what most authoring programs want instead of muxed MPEG2 files. Esp if you plan to add multiple audio streams and/or subtitles.
