Does anyone have any knowledge on how to avoid green squares, choppy playback etc. These symptoms does not occur in every chapter.
    Only some.

What I have done is to convert DV files with TMPGenc to MPEG2, 6000kbps, normal precision or motion estimate. No filters etc. Sound converted to MPEG 1, 48 KHz, 384 kbps.

Have edited in TMPGENC DVD Author.

On some occations I have problems when playing back my DVD on the stand alone. Any inputs on how to get a more compliant DVD (less flaws).

    Thx

Use Multipass VBR as opposed to CBR. Since it's DV, I assume it's from a CAM? Cams are notorius for jiggle/motion, which drives your encoder nuts. Shooting from a tripod, and less camera motion will significantly improve your encodes.

You can try some noise/motion filters to lessen whatever problem your seeing after the encode.

Quality when it works is more than good enough. And yes its from a DVcam.

Thus filtering is an option but not really necessary.

My problem is that the entire picture gets garbled. Usually happens when changing from one chapter to the next. But far from always.
Going on to the next chapter may make the garbled picture go away.

    Any suggestions ?
