  1. Hi all,

For some reason a movie that I have already converted from Divx at exactly 11:31:02 gets desync by 1:14 secs. It needs the sound to be shifted (delayed) 1:14 secs. After this shifting the audio sync for the rest of the movie is correctly in sync. Aparently extra video frames were introduced at the mentioned time (do not know how)

I was wondering, for a case like this is there a software/tool that allows you to correct this type of errors? So far I have done it with trial and error using Studio 8 but may be there is a simpler way. Thanks

    TIA

What did you convert it to ?
You can open the original in Vdub, select the good section
and save it. Then select the rest of it, shift the audio, and save that.

OR.. save audio, delete 1.14 sec worth of video, restore audio.

  3. Thanks for your reply,

I do not have the original anymore. The format that I have it now is MPG1

About the cutting process, I could do it that way, is just that I was wondering if there was a tool that visually allowed to sync video to voice to be able to get the delay that I should apply.

The way I did it was trial and error.

    Thanks

Is the audio off that amount, or does it shift that amount. There's a difference.

One just has the audio shifted, and this can be corrected in a good audio editing program (cut it or add silence) like soundforge. This is typical of sudden fixed sync loss. Does it start out this way or jump in the middle?

The other requires you to re-encode the audio to compensate for the shift. This is typical of gradual loss of sync.

  5. The audio is suddenly shifted by aprox 1:14 secs around the 11:30 secs of run and continues with that off of 1:14 secs for the rest of the movie.

Now, soundforge can do the trick or any other video program adding video in that amount. What I am looking for is a tool that may let you sync video (by looking at the movie, say a sound or a mouth moving) with the audio. As I said before and with Studio 8 I have been able to "shift" the audio by introducing 1:14 secs.

    Anybody has more ideas?

    Thanks

You are trying to tell us you can sync audio to video
by looking at the audio waveform and matching that to voices.
That's amazing. The only way I ever did that was by finding
places with a slamming door or something dropping on the floor.

I'm having a hard time remembering what program. Probably
a NLE with audio waveform display.
    Maybe even TMPGenc

  7. That is right! That is exactly what I am looking for. Is there such a tool?

I do not think that TMPGEnc displays the audio track peaks along with the video.

    Thanks. JW.

Ulead Media Studio Pro has audio waveform
    Premiere maybe

Adobe Premier will do it. I played with it last night. In fact, you can completely fix the whole thing, without re-encoding the video. Needless to say this is a $500 fix?

Use Soundforge, since you know the timestamps of the breaks. Cut and insert the required silence(blank sound). No re-encoding required.
