  1. after i burn a dvd-r, it shows up 0 bytes. i have no idea what the problem is. i used dvd decrypter to do a full rip. i used ifoedit to play the rip and it plays fine. then i use dvd2one to transcode it. again used ifoedit to test play and it shows up fine. then i used nero 6 to burn video_ts folder and after it completes i get a seemingly blank dvd-r that is unplayable. this has happened 3 times, twice with nero, and once with copytodvd. can someone point me in the right direction as to what my problem might be before i burn another coaster? btw i'm using an optorite dd0203 recorder with ritekg04 discs. i tried seaching the forums and came up short. thank you.

update: i just tried imgtools to make an iso file to burn with dvd decrypter and got the same problem. i'm going to lose my mind.

    update: i give up.

  2. are you burning or simulating ????
you must put your final files *.ifo/*.bup/*.vob in VIDEO_TS directory when making a DVD movie files in Nero
    and its done
so you must have simulated a burn

I'd start using RW disks until you figure out what the problem is.

  6. Try backing up a DVD5 disc by creating an ISO file with DVD Decrypter and burning the file to disc (again using DVD Decrypter). If your disc is still blank using this method you probably have a bum burner. A lot of people are having problems with the optorite burner.

  7. Can you burn a data disk ? or any type of disk ?

It sounds to me like a burner problem, maybe aspi drivers or dma.

I take it that Windows and Nero both recognise your drive ok.

i havn't tried burning a regular data disc yet. i'm going to grab some dvd-rw discs today and try it out. and yes, windows and nero have no probelm detecting my drive. also using the latest firmware.

  9. give more info, what kind of computer, what operating system, what version nero, etc etc. the more info you give the faster you get the right answer.

In Nero before you burn check the "compilation info" menu option to see if all your data is there. This will tell you the size of the disc content that you are planning to burn.

Approx burn times are as follows:
A 4x disc should take about 15 min
A 2.4 disc should take about 23 min
A 2x disc should take about 1/2 hour.
    A 1x disc about 55 minutes.
This is without post write verification of course and no simulation.

How long do your discs burn?
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

hardware: amd athlon xp 3000+, asus a7n8x deluxe mobo, 512 pc3200 ddr ram, optorite dd0203 dual burner firmware 2.17, ritek g04 dvd-r discs.

    software: dvddecrypter v3.1.6.0, dvd2one 1.2.3, nero 6.0.0.15, ifoedit 0.94, imgtools 0.89 and .90b6.

now i just tried to burn the iso file with dvddecrypter on a verbatim datalife dvd+rw (ricohjpnw01) and received the same results with 0 bytes used, but unlike the dvd-r, the rw disc still shows 4.37gb free. i have to head to work right now, so i'll see if i can erase the rw disc and try to burn regular data on it once i get home.

update: i was gonna post this afternoon, but the forums were down.

    for my 4x dvd-r burning at 4x, 15 mins. for my 2.4x dvd-rw burning at 2.4x, about 20-25 mins.

strange thing happened with the dvd-rw. this afternoon, right after i burned it, it was completely unrecognizable by my optorite, but after i came home from work it's being recognized by the drive AND on my apex ad-1200 standalone (a little skipping at times, but playable). can somebody give me a little insight on what is happening here? i'm a newbie, and appreciate all the help so far. thanks.

  13. i think i may have found my answer here https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176358. apparently there is an issue with the optorite drive and dvd-r discs. which is great because i bought 100 of 'em.
