  1. Just bouight this player (Elta 8899) off a German company on Ebay. It was described as multiregion, but is actually Region 2.
Have had no luck in getting any sense out of them for the remote hack.
SO, does anyone watching here have details of the hack for this player, or know where I can get it.
Got loads of Region 1 dvd's and can't plem them.
    Any help greatly appreciated

  2. Hi,

As this is your first post I have to assume you're not familiar with this site yet. So in an attempt to re-state the obvious:

    1. Go to "DVD Hacks" in the "OTHER" category in the left pane menu.
    2. Type "Elta" as a brand name and do a search. (I checked myself; the Elta 8899 is not listed, but some of the other Elta types are.)
    3. Check out some of the ragion code hacks for the types listed - they MIGHT work on your machine, then again they might not. Careful though - I'm not 100% sure but putting in a code not intended for your machine might sc**w things up considerably.

I do not know the Elta brand by first-hand experience, so this is the best I can do. (My player is a Cyberhome CH-402 - bought after reading the reviews on this site. Region-free is dead easy with this one.)

If no luck here, check out the vast Internet

  3. Many thanks for the advice, but I did scour the forums BEFORE I posted.
Have also trawled the net until my eyes popped out!
I'm just annoyed at the misrepresentation of the company that sold the unit and have not had a suitable reply from them, apart from telling me that "It's easy using the remote control, just check the DVD-Wallboards" whatever that means.
    Thanks anyway

  4. Ok, have managed to get a hack that works (after many phone calls to Germany).
So for anyone else that has this model, here's the hack:-

    1. Switch ON
    2. Open drawer
    3. Choose "Setup" on the remote
    4. Move curser right to highlight "Preferences"
    5. Type "49540" on the remote
    6. Use down arrow & and select "0"
    7. Press "Save/Play"

    That's it
