  1. I have created the DVD using DVD-Lab (great bit of s/w! & thanks for the help to all!)

When I try to play it in PowerDVD or my standalone - It won't play. I think that there's files missing. Can you look below and let me know...

Nero said that there were files missing along the lines of video_ts.ifo & video_ts.bup - shouldn't DVD-Lab have created these?

My movie consisted of the original DVD clip and a menu with one button but displaying contact details (easier than mpeg stills etc etc)

    TIA
    Pete.

  2. From what I see, DVD-Lab did create the files you mentioned, they are in your folder.

Question is, did you drag all the files needed to the VIDEO_TS folder?
Another question, did you accidentaly drag the files to the root of the DVD and not drop them into the VIDEO_TS folder?

    I'd check those 2 things.

  3. Most software DVD players need two things:

    1. A VIDEO_TS folder (yes all caps) located on the root drive
    2. A VIDEO_TS.IFO file

DVD Lab created some extra non-standard files (VIDEO_TS.lnk & Default.PLS) which could be erased. However I do not see the VIDEO_TS.VOB file which is the first thing that the DVD player will try to play (look to the left under what is DVDR).

Just a wild-ass guess here. It might have something to do with the space in the "working cut" directory name. I notice that your list displayed the shortened name "MYDOCU~1" which is usually used when an application doesn't like long file or directory names, especially ones with spaces in them. You might try changing the name of the "working cut" directory to "working_cut" or "workingcut" or something shorter without a space. I don't know exactly what errors you are getting, so this is, like I said, just a wild-ass guess.

  5. What I did was:

    1) Import the files into the asset window from the DVD I wanted to copy.
    2) Selected Demux to give me the AC3 audio and video tracks separate.
    3) Created a menu with a link to the movie for a single button and a 20sec timeout on the menu to the 1st (and only) clip.
    4) Tested the Menu using the simulate option
    5) used Project / Compile DVD.

So the Compile option has created these files in my \working cut directory as they appear in the start of this post.

Am I following the correct procedure? I think I am according to the on line help.. but any advice on things I may be missing - greatfully received. I need to get this cracked today by 1700hrs GMT or I'm right up the creak...

    Thanks
    Pete

  6. Can anyone also tell me when I use PowerDVD to preview the author, what is the process for starting the movie.

I've been using file mode and selecting each file until something happens. What's the best file to start with to get the menu up and navigate from there?

    Thanks
    Pete

Still need an urgent answer to my previous message.

for your 2nd question the file is: Video_ts.ifo

    in PowerDVD:

Open with "Open DVD file on Hard Disc Drive" and browse to the ifo file = Video_ts.ifo
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  9. My problem is now:

I've got DVDLab to do a test compile (very basic mpeg image) with a simple menu of 1 x button.

Once compiled (and no errors), running the video_ts.ifo file has no effect in PowerDVD.

If I load the directory into DVD Shrink, I can see the menu. The menu functions correctly when viewed in simulation mode in DVD LAb.

    HELP!!!

    Thanks
    Pete

  10. WEIRD!!

It will NOT play in PowerDVD. But when burnt, plays in all of my stand alone players fine.

Perhaps there's an issue with PowerDVD. I'll try a reinstall.

Thanks for everyone help and PM's

    Pete

  11. There are some issues with DVD-Lab and PowerDVD. I believe the author od DVD-Lab is actively trying to correct them in every new release.
