  1. Hello,

I have a .m2v files (output from tmpgenc) length of 1:02:16 as reported by tmpgenc. When I import the clip to DvdMaestro, the clip length is reported as 1:02:12 ( loss of 4 seconds.) I've tried to look at specific times using tmpgenc and compared it with dvdmaestro, and sure enough, the scenes don't match at the same point in time. This also cause a problem when importing the date/time codes as subtitles (they will be skewed off.) Has anyone out there ran into this problem, and if so, were you able to fix it?

    Can anyone help!!!

    Thanks,

PS. the clip came from my Sony camcorder via IEEE

the diff is drop frame vs. non drop frame -- tmpgenc kinda screws up on that and there is no adjustment ...

at least ive seen that issue come up ..

when you load your first asset - maestro will report DF or NDF in its display

ypu can try to switch to asset timecode and that will sometimes fix it (before loading audio)

  3. BJ_M,

I don't see any DF or NDF in maestro when I first load the asset. Is that an option in the properties of the asset.

    Thanks,

  4. BJ_M,

I also noticed that the wall clock and the time asset clock are in sync up to about 30 minutes. then they are skewed by a second for about 5 minutes and then 2 seconds off for another 5 minuets, then 3 seconds ... and so on...

    Thanks, for all your help.

did you change to asset time code from the default 0 time code ?

itsin your manual on how to do -but just right click on the time code line

1:02:16 btw way means 1 minute , 2 sec and 16 frames Non drop frame

you should have 01:02:16;00 which means 1 hour , 2 minutes , 16 sec, and 00 frames drop frame (if DV source) .. or any number of frames up to the next second ..

it will not change in the media bin .. but what is the lenth on the timeline (you can toggle it back an forth) ..

spruce is reporting (correctly) the true lenth of the asset -as it was encoded ...
there is always issues with stupid ntsc ... for one , many apps (adobe) don't use the correct frame rate (vegas does) , but as long as you stay in all adobe or ulead or vegas or avid or whatever - not a problem (why we use render to frames whcih gets around that problem ) ... then you have drop frame and non drop frame issues .. and a few other issues ..
