The real problem with this poll is that scientists proved several years ago, using the theories of Einstein, Koestler, Hawking, etc., that Seinfeld was the best American comedy ever made. This was proved using several supercomputers and modifying Einstein's General Theory of Relativity.
Hawking, especially, was instrumental in proving this fact.
By taking into account quantum mechanics, he was able to show that Comedy can radiate energy as laughter is created in it's vicinity.
According to Hawking, "It's OK that some people don't understand Seinfeld. But for them to compare Seinfeld with other comedys is ridiculous. They don't understand either Einstein's work, or mine."
"Not that there's anything wrong with that!"I don't have a bad attitude...

The Simpsons and Friends neck and neck for first place, with Seinfield coming in third. The rest of them I can take or leave.
No one has mentioned Malcolm in the Middle, don't you guys get it in the states
This has got to be the best recent comedy to come out of america, brilliant. Bit like a live version of the Simpsons. I've just got to look at the expression on Deweys face and I crack up.
The DVD is not available in the UK yet, but I just took delivery of the first season on Region 1 this morning. -
From what's available, I'd have to go with Seinfield.
But I'd like to see Malcolm in there :c) Absolutely brilliant show and one of few that makes me laugh out loud.
If I could sneak one deserving cartoon in? it's be INVADER ZIM! Hysterical! :cDThere's no place like 127.0.0.1

But the fact that nobody mentioned MARRIED WITH CHILDREN!!!!!!
When trying to figure out best Brit comedy, the problem was thye decision "Which of all those is the best?".
Obviously me and the Brits share the same sense of humor...

South Park! Definatelly South Park!
I had years to laugh that much!
Then comes the all time classic Married with Children.
When I was a kid, I also liked I dream of jeannie, but I don't think that I liked it for the comedy part, but mostly for Barbara Eden.... -
Definitely Senifeld
PLUS
It gets my vote for 'Comedy most unappreciated by a UK Audience' - what's wrong with us guys?!?[/b]

Harry Shearer and Dan Castellaneta have also been on Friends in small parts.

The best ... The Simpsons
The worst ... Seinfield / Friends ... a serious pile of pish! -
Hey , I may be biased being English but I thought the Brit Comedy poll had far better shows (n more of em). With the exception of the Simpsons, most of the others are pretty lame, I might let family guy off too, Im impressed with the Season 3 of FG.
Personally i dont think any come anywhere near Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Young Ones/Bottom, early Red Dwarf. -
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Happy Days
or Sledgehammer.
"Trust me. I know what I'm doing".Classics.
Of the supplied list, I'd have to go with The Simpsons. -
NOTA
[None of the above]
Cheers!!IMHO But then again I'm Old School.

My heart is heavy with sadness today...
That so many of you do not understand the theories of Hawking. Oh well.
Anyway, re: Friends. It WAS funny... until about two or three years ago. Once any sitcom starts writing things like a main charator giving birth, it's a sign that the well has gone dry and it's time to hang it up.
Now it's just stupid. But hey, when you're making that kind of money I'm sure it's hard to give it up.
If any cast of charactors should end up in prison, it's the cast of Friends. If not voluntary (like Seinfeld), then by force!!!I don't have a bad attitude...

The Simsons !!!
Absolutely Fantastic!!! 8)

I'd forgotten all about Sledge Hammer....
The first part of Malcolm in the Middle was pretty good, but as I recall it went downhill really, really fast and turned in to yet another generic shitcom.
I never cared for the show Seinfeld, even though I think Jerry Seinfeld is a decent comedian. It seemed more sad and pathetic than funny. All those shallow, selfish people trying to trick other people so they look better or get ahead or whatever.... It's a lot funnier to watch real people do silly things and have to live with the long-term consequences of their mistakes.
I didn't like Friends for the same reason. It struck me as one of the many shows that tried to cash in on the Seinfeld formula, but unlike all the rest they actually made it big instead of fading in to well-deserved oblivion.A man without a woman is like a statue without pigeons. -

Yep, THE BEST along with Simpsons a close second. -
As long as people are drawing connections between the simpsons and Friends, I am supprised no one has mentioned that Lisa Kudrow was on the simpsons!!!!
EDIT: I found a picture of the character...

Seinfeld is #1(Kramer is hilarious)
So many good comedies from the past it's hard to pick(thank God for cable and NickatNite). -
