Device already in use error. PCTV Pro Card

I get this error...

whenever I try to use VirtualDub, Microsoft Movie Maker 2, and a few other programs when I try to capture video with them. Program that work are PCTV Vision(came with card), iuVCR, WinDVR, WinDVD Creator. Has anyone else had this prob and how did you fix it? Thanks. I think my PC specs are at the bottom but its been a while since I posted so I could be wrong. Im wrong. Edit time

Hi,
I had the same problem as I installed the WDM-driver-softwareversion of Pinnacle (with the old drivers it still worked). Maybe some .dll or what ever files in the Windows-system exists will be used by another application like flatbed scanners, soundcards or what ever.
Clean up your registration from every thing that is called "Pinnacle", "PCTV" and so on. Then try to re-install your Windows (put the Windows-CD to your drive and start the setup.exe; DON'T format your harddrive) and then install the Pinnacle-software again.
If that all doesn't help, do what I'm doing: Make a new partition at your HD and install another version of Windows (Win 2000 is a good idea, so I have done) and use this only for capturing. DON't install under this Win any hardware-drivers you don't really need.

VDub uses VFW drivers, and later versions of PCTV Pro drivers use WDM drivers. Use other capture programs like VirtualVcr or iuvcr. It has been some time since I have used my PCTV Pro board, but as I recall, after installing the BT8x drivers (http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/), I was able to capture in VDub, but for me VirtualVCR worked better than any other capture programs.
