Hey Guys. I'm trying to get DVDWS AC3 edition to encode to AC3 but it won't. First of all, after I installed the powerpack, I had to go into the ini file to enable ac3 encoding, decoding, and playing. (set them all to 1). Only after that did the AC3 option show up in the "audio format" drop down list. Then, I created a disc template with AC3 sound at 192kb/s. The video is 6000 kbps. My disc template has the video for 6000kbps constant and 192 ac3. When I go to "make disc" and choose my disc template, the "make disc" window pops up and I chose to "create dvd directory" as I just want to test for the moment.

Now, when I SELECT "Do not convert compliant file (g)" , it goes ahead with the process and makes the audio and video_ts folders. Then, I check the audio using the only way I know. I launch DVD2ONE and choose the dir just created by DVDWS as the souce. THen I click "next" and it asks me to choose the audio. It lists the audio there as "PCM 2ch".

When I DO NOT SELECT I get an error "Do not convert compliant file (g)"
I get the error, "Failed to convert video file Error:80041c21".

What am I doing wrong here? I've tried to find the answer here and haven't been able to. Please help.

    Cheers.

Please people. I spent a small fortune buying WS and then the AC3 powerpack just recently. I'm already feeling terrible since I can't get it to work. If I don't have ac3 sound anymore after paying a bomb, the wife isn't going to allow me to buy this kinda software anymore.

Yes, I'm kinda desperate. It's a disgusting feeling when you pay so much for something and it doesn't do what it's supposed to. So I'm hoping I can get some help from the gurus here. Please do respond.

    Bt.

PS. Ulead hasn't replied to a single email of mine in the past 2 weeks. Is this typical?

  3. What's the original sound type and how did you get that?
Did you download a movie from internet and demuxed it?

Try telling something about source material and what you did with it before using it in DVDWS AC3.

    Thanks for your response blacardi.

I'm capturing from MiniDV into Premiere 6.5. Then I edit the movie and use adobe's built in mpeg encoder. Now with the encoder, I have a few different options. In particular, I can output the audio as either "Mpeg Layer 2" or "PCM". In addition, I have the option to either output the video multiplexed with the audio, or I can get separate audio and video files. The latter is what I did, with PCM as my audio option.
I also tried Mpeg Layer2. With this option, when I didn't multiplex the files together, I got one .m2v video file and one .mpa file. The .mpa file wasn't even a recognized audio stream in DVDWS and it wouldn't let me attatch that audio file to it's equivalent video file. When multiplexed as a .mpg file, it would let me import it to DVDWS. However, when I right clicked on the file and clicked on properties, under the audio is says "none". So I gave up with mpeg layer 2 audio.
Then I started exporting with PCM audio. When I don't multiplex the audio and video, I get one .m2v and one .wav file. This is where I was having a problem. I would try using DVDWS to write the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to the hd.

If I multiplex the 2 with pcm audio(again in premiere 6.5).... in the make disc section, I choose ac3 audio at 192 kbps, if I SELECT "Do not convert compliant file (g)", I get an error... "Failed to convert audio file Error:80041c22".
If I DO NO SELECT "Do not convert compliant file (g)", it goes ahead with the conversion. Then, I use ifoedit to open the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file, and it says
    "VTS_1 Audio1: Not Specified (Linear PCM) 2ch 48kbps 16 bps"

I hope that's enough info for you guys to help me.

Nolonemo: I've replied to your question asking if it pops up the Dolby Digital sign on my dvd player. Here is my response that I posted to creativecows.

Thanks for the reply. I'm was pretty sure ifoedit is giving me the correct information. I tried another piece of software (DVD2ONE) and it said the same thing(PCM 2ch). However, I tried burning it to a dvd and playing it on my standalone player... no success... my DD sign doesn't pop up I have my Samsung standalone player audio set to "bistream" which is for AC3. Then I have other options. WHen I set it to the other option, I can hear the sound... other wise I can't. Bottom line, no DD symbol pops up for me using that dvd, confirming what I see in ifoedit.

    Thanks in advance, everyone.

    Cheers.

    BT.
