Have captured 100 ++ GB og VHS material to DV.

What is the best approach to get a DVD when using Studio 8 for authoring.

Is it possible to reencode in tmpg and just do the editing in Studio8.

I did try this but Studio 8 just kept on rendering the already DVD compliant MPEG file.

    Waiting for help

  3. i use a little VS 8 to make DV2SVCD/MPEG2(dvd) but i donīt make dvd
what you must do is to edit and make a mpg2 (dvd) then de-multiplex in tmpeg to get a *.m2v and a *.mp2 files and then author a dvc using ifoedit
using ifoedit seems to be very easy
i still canīt use a captured *.avi from DV using VS8 on Tmpeg/Avisynth
to reencode in tmpeg you should use a lossless codec to save your final movie in VS8
i canīt tell you a lot but ...

This probably depends on how much editing you want to do. If you want to do some substantial cuts and rearrangements with transitions and titles etc, then I would say that you might as well do it all in Studio, if it is stable on your system. I don't have too many problems with it and go through to either producing the MPEG2 file and then burning with Ulead MovieFactory, or burning direct with Studio itself.
If you are just making minor adjustments and not wanting tranistions or titles, then I would use TMPEG to encode the bits that you are interested in.
I wouldn't encode in TMPEG and then try to use the MPGs in Studio though.
The future is much like the present, only longer.
