Kidkosta,
It was nice to see an apology though. :c) Don't get scared off. Read this thread for some tips on how to post questions and expect good responses:

especially the moderators' responses. Moderators have that designation in blue text just below their names.
If you're new to it all, it may be helpful.
There's also STICKY messages in all the forum categories. Read those through once, and you'll get the hang of it.
It's not just here, or just you. Typing in caps or bold is frowned on any forum, email, etc. Save caps and bold for important words so we know you are stressing them.
Have fun learning. There's no place like 127.0.0.1

You'll see lots of people that prefer one program over another, or use different progs for different situations.
You can do searches using the prog name and find everybody's comments about them. The search box is above every thread at the top right.
Also, in the TOOLS section, look up the prog and you'll see people post info for how it's working, or not working! for them.
Click on the link that was auto-created in your post and you'll see 26 comments there to start with. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

kidkosta, I'd suggest you get the trial versions of the commercial softwares, DVDXCopy XPress, DVD2One, DVD95Copy, CloneDVD, Nero Recode, etc etc, DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5 (free program), and do some comparative tests.
Everyone here has different opinions about all these softwares, so I believe it's best if you make your own. -
kidcosta,
Welcome aboard. A little info for you: DVD X COPYEXPRESS is probably the easiest program to use. the latest version allows you to copy the entire disc or just the movie. The choice is yours. If the movie you are backing up is long (i.e. Lord of the Rings) you would probably get the best quality backup by only backing up the movie and not the extras. Also, if the movie is a short one, say about 95-90 minutes, chances are it's a DVD5 (single layer) meaning you can fit the entire movie with all the extras and menus on one disc without compressing it further. In this case DVD Decrypter is the way to go. Check out the guides on this site for DVD to DVD to learn how to use these and other backup programs. Good luck.
