  2. i think the vast majority of PAL dvd players will play NTSC dvd's, but in order for them to display correctly on a PAL-only TV you have to output through RGB

  5. I do believe PS2 dont. I know my friends didnt play a region one, so i copied it..removed the region coding and it would play but with b/w picture. I do believe it mentions this on the 'region free' gadget you can buy for UK PS2s (it says you need a PAL/NTSC TV).

  7. AFAIK, all PAL region DVD players will play NTSC encoded disks. Its what kind of signal they output, and what your (PAL?) TV can handle that matters.

There seems to be two choices of output signal, with some players offering both.

The 1st is obviously NTSC signals. In this case your TV will obviously have to be NTSC capable. The second is PAL-60. This, as far as I understand it, is a PAL signal exept it has a framerate of 60 fields per second for NTSC framerates. Again, your TV needs to ba able to handle this signal type.

It appears that many TV's sold in europe (for quite a few yaers) can handle at least Pal-60 and quite a few can also handle NTSC, even if it is not advertised on the box.
