I heard PS2 will not read burned media without hacking it.

PS2 (most all versions) will play authored DVDRs (not CDRs) without hacking/chipping.

Save your video files in DVD compliant formats. I don't use Movie Factory, so I don't know what options it includes.

Read GUIDES to the left and media details for PS2 under PLAYERS sections on the left for more info.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Do you have a modchip...if so, then you can use a cdr. I recommend buying a standalone player. They're not very expensive these days. I got a KLH player that plays everything for 15 bucks after rebates from best buy.

You do not need to worry about extentions, just use your software to author it as a DVD movie and you should be fine with it.

VCD and SVCD are other video on CD formats that the PS2 cannot read without modifications.

  7. What the PSX2 can and can not play is based on both the media used, the authoring/burning process and the PSX2 model number. Mine (ver6) plays DVD-R and DVD-RW in either UDF 1.02 or 1.05. I could burn with Nero Express of DVD Decrypter and pretty much everything works. This Is on princo 4x DVD-R media. I know that not everyone likes princos, but in my hands they are fine. But if all you want to do is play DVDs on your TV I wouldn’t use the PSX2 (or the Xbox) get a cheap Apex, Mintek, etc. player for $50-70 (cost of a new game) and use that instead. Much better in the long run and less wear/tear on your PSX2.

  8. thanx flayct.

and vejita, well im talkin based on what i have right now which is PS2, so ill worry later about the DVD stuff when i buy a dvd lol

so ill buy a DVD R, burn a movie with RAXIO or MOVIE FACTORY and see the resuslts

OH BTW, if i recored a movie on DVDR, can i recored another one like a day later or is it not rewritable?

R stands for recordable and RW stands for rewriteable. If you want to erase the data on a cd...go w/ the RW.

PS2 plays DVD-RW and +RW. Only thing is...if its V1-3, it might not play +. V4 and up for + media generally, V1 and up all play DVD-R/RW no problem.
