Problem burning to DVD-R media using Sony DRU510A burner

Anyone with Sony DRU510A burner been able to successfully write to the Verbatim DVD-R successfully. The manf of media is CMC according to dvdinfo. The firmware on my burner is 1.0B and I have managed to create several coaster. The burning software I tried are Pinnacle Instant Copy, Nero 6 and RecordNow DX, failed with all of them. I'm trying to burn home movie and I have successfully burned on the DVD+R media.

Sony's web site states that the Verbatim DVD-R is compatible media for the DRU510A.

Any help/advise will be much appreciated.

All the Verbatims work fine for me (DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW). With both 1.0b and 1.0c firmware. My Verbatims were the CMC ones too.

How exactly does the burning fail? An error during burn, or unreadable disc afterwards? And what versions of the burning software do you have?

The Burning fails after between 1% and 5% of burning with a Write Error. I use version 7.?? (with latest update) of Instant Copy and Nero Version 6, I don't know the version of RecordNow DX it came with the drive. The PC has Windows XP (SP1).

It also fails buring Khypermedia DVD-R and CompUSA DVD-R.
