it wil play on XBOX, Plastation, avex, panasonic, toshiba , etc but not on the Sony DVD player ???

Recommend you click on the box on the left side of the screen that says 'DVD Players' and see if your specific model reports any success with DVD+R...
...since you didn't list your Sony model number, that is.
