  1. Hello

Ok first off, yes I searched, yes i found similar questions (which is how was even able to attempt this) no i didnt find a resolution.. Heres my problem and how i came about with a working solution.

    Tools needed:

    Virtual Dub
Tmpeg Enc (w/ divx3 filter and mpg 2 plugin)
    DVD2AVI
    Patience?

    Issue-
When I extracted an mpeg2 off a perfectly working svcd that I had made, the source svcd was completely out of sync. The video seems like its changing to a faster framerate but the audio sounds normal.

I needed to convert this svcd to an avi so that I can check for bad frames in Vdub but I had never done this before. Now, Im using DVD2AVI for this, and it has asked me what type of compression to use with the new avi. I chose divx, though im not sure if that was right. Then I brought the new avi into Vdub and scanned it for bad frames. The process finished and reported no errors or bad frames. So since that wasn't the problem i tried to demux and remux both the aud and vid like i've also read. Didn't work.

    Heres where i improvise.

After the above procedure failed, I didn't know what else I could do and i was thinking well maybe I could somehow open up the vid file in some program and slow it down to the rate of the audio. I could find nothing about this so i don't even know if it's possible. Finally, at my last wit's end.. I decided to check the avi that i had made to see if that was out of sync too. I was shocked to find that it wasn't out of sync (i could tell by how fast it played), but there was no audio.. Hmm, I think im getting closer to figuring this out.

    Solution-
So, i decide that since I had already demuxed the mpeg and I had the audio track, I then used the video avi and the mp2 audio to create yet another video file. To my suprise and amazement, the mpeg that I created is completely in sync! i dont get how it worked. I dont understand why my video avi (first off had no audio track) or why the video frame rate changed to its proper speed. But isn't the important thing that it works now with no sync issues? Im no expert (obviously) but maybe someone can add to this and make it a guide on how to fix svcds or vcds that are out of sync. This problem seemed to come up more then any that I have found on these forums..

    Best Regards,

    Hope this helps someone....

  2. you can use vdubmod to open mpg files thus saving you endless hours of drudgery and learning... It might have been an authoring thing or perhaps it was perception...(wacky backy)?
