Hello guys and gals,, I just downloaded the copy of DVD X Copy Express to try out if it was a good program to make back ups of my DVDs. It seems easier than dirt and copied/burned a backup of Fellowship of the Ring within about an hour and a half. It seemed simple enough, but when I tried to play it in my good DVD player that can read the worst dvd's, it only got 4 minutes into it and it locked up tight. I scratched my head threw the dvdr into my towering stack of coasters and blamed it on inexperience. I tried again and this time,, it worked with no problem. Now I don't know if I just got lucky or if I was unlucky the first time.
PRO- Simple as dirt,, my kids can burn a backup of their Dora the Explorer DVD's with out my help
CON- I'm not sure if it's the most stable software out there? How many coasters do I see in the future?
What are other users suggestions and comments on this software or something other?

I use it a lot and all my backups play on al three players at home just fine. Maybe try another brand of DVD media and see if that's the problem. I use TDK, Ritek, and CompUSA DVD-R media FYI.

Personally, I find the 3-2-1- Studios opening warning screen offensive. And so although I have bought and paid for a copy of this program, I never use it. I much prever DVDShrink. Although not 2 click simple like Xcopy, it's still very easy to use and gives me control over authoring (i.e., I can make a complete copy of just the movie, the whole DVD with menus, etc., or any combination of movie and features that I want). It also gives me control over the amount of compression. And now, the latest beta version, allows making DVDs from separate sources. And how much does all of this wonderful functionality cost? Zip, nada, zilch.
You need a separate program to burn your creation, but Nero, which comes with many DVD burners works just fine, as well as some of the freebie solutions in the Tools section.
Oh, yes, forgot the best part. No coasters so far.
My 2 cents,
Morloc
