  1. I have windows media player 9 installed on a computer here at work and when I try to play a .mpg file... it won't play it. I thought version 9 would be able to play that type of file without a problem. Do I need something else. Do I need to install a codec for it?

  3. I installed a mpeg2 codec and now it doesn't kick it out but there is no video, just a black screen. I didn't think it would be this hard to play a .mpg in WMP.

  4. Which MPEG2 codec did you install, not all of them are created equal. I would suggest that you d/load the Power DVD demo, install it, then un-install it the (the MPEG2 codec will not be uninstalled).

WMP 9 absolutely sucks for playing MPEG's. Try the WMP classic 6.4.x.x , it's a single file standalone you can put anywhere ( including replacing the old original mplayer2.exe file.....like I use to hide at work).
