hi room.
I'm newbie with DVD ripping.
I've followed exactly the tutorial of DVDx2.2 but the output MPEG1 for VCD2.0 is not very good (i mean the video quality). So i tried with SmartRipper , DVD2Audio and TMPGENC and the video quality was better than DVDx.But the video output had no subtitle --> i got stuck
In general, i like DVDx because it is neat and easy to handle. But the quaility is not the best.So everyone pls do me a favour.Pls give me the best settings with DVDx2.2
My specs:
GA-81G1000 mainboard FSB 800
CPU: P4 2.4c Ghz bus 800 Hyper Threading
RAM: 512MB DDR400 dual channels
VGA onboad Intel Graphic Extreme 2 with 64MB
DVD drive: LiteOn:
Many thanks for the help

DVDx's MPEG-1 encoder sucks, but the MPEG-2 encoder looks good(on my system).I suggest you use Video Server Plugin and frameserve to TMPGEnc.

Heero,
I used DVDx2 and 2.2 for quite a while. I couldn't get DVD2SVCD to work for me, os DVDx was all I could use.
I was, generally, very happy with it, but not at default, or "spec" bitrates.
Mine were always set to higher, for instance, a 90 minute would have the bitrate raised till it showed approximately 1.6 gigs in the total size window on the right of the Output Settings page.
If you have to change the disk anyway, why do it 20 minutes before the end of the movie, rather than the middle?
One problem may be if your DVD player is picky. A lot won't play a VCD/SVCD at all, let alone one with too high a bitrate.
A good thing about the program is it is one step, will rip and convert direct from the disk, but save your DVD-ROM by using a large RAM buffer, say a 100 meg, it will read 100 meg into RAM, operate on it, then read more, the DVD "resting" in the interim.
