    what is a video/x-ms-asf file and can it be converted to mpg, ive tried different programs and they dont recognise it, except tmpgenc, which crashes after a few minutes, but it plays fine in windows media player

  2. if WMP can play it, then you could frameserve it with AVISynth to TMPGEnc.

    Code:
    DirectShow("filename")
    Save it as something.avs and use that as your source in TMPGEnc.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author
