Hi there,

didn't exacty know where to put this, so I hope this goes into the right forum.
Here's the problem:
After installing Nero Vision Express 2 from the Nero 6 package bsplayer plays all my mpeg2 files (svcd compatible, got nothing else lying around) with a decoder called "ahead mpeg video decoder".

Which wouldn't be a problem if the codec would work in all players. But it doesn't so neither Windows media player nor Media Player Classic can playback mpeg2 files anymore. Apart from that the decoder doesn't really like fast forward and I have the feeling the picture quality isn't the best.

I have the Elecard mpeg 2 decoder installed, and bsplayer and the other work smooth with that when Vision Express is not installed. After installing, the Elecard mpeg2 demultiplexer and odio decoder are still used, only the mpeg2 video decoder changes.

Now here's what I tried already:

-> search the registry for "ahead mpeg video decoder": none found
-> check under system properties/sounds and audio/hardware/videocodecs: none found (sounds logically, as elecard doesn't show up there neither, being a pure "decoder")
-> checked with gspot (see links to screenshots at end of post), gspot says the decoder uses windows/system32/quartz.dll, which is a file by ms.
-> installed windvd as well as powerdvd: files still played by ahead (apart from windvd or powerdvd itself of course)

*/me confused now*

So, any ideas of how to get rid of this codec and keeping the program installed?

cheers,

squee
