Hello people, I am trying to compres DV to DIVX using Virtual Dub which is perfectly works with MPEG 2 but when I am trying to open DV captured with FireWire, it say: No dvs codec.....or somethig.
So I hope that I have to instal some codec in order to open DV in Virtual Dub, and thats all I need, form that point I know how to go.\\
Thanks for help

I believe yours is Type1 DV. VDub can't open it because it's not VFW-compatible. Maybe you can open it through Directshow filter with AVISynth, but I have never dealt with DV. And audio is not supported yet with AVISynth. So you are probably better off using another editor. There are many out there....

install the panasonic or main concept dv codec , and then v-dub will work with dv files just fine ..

As BJ_M said, installing a DV codec fixes the problem with MS's VFW codec. The problem with type-1 avi files (virtualdub won't read type-1 audio) is fixed using the type-1 to type-2 converter. I think it's still in the tools section, otherwise check ulead's site.
DV works just fine for me in virtualdub except that a botched codec install means I still have to manually tell VD to use cdvc for the fourcc code. Yea I could fix it in the registry but I'm lazy...
