I went through a spindle of 25 Memorex DVD-R disks with no coasters, and they tested out pretty well with Nero CD Speed as well. Even though DVDInfo showed them to be made by CMC, which everybody says is crap. However, that's not to say that somebody else's 25-pack of Memorex CMC DVD-R disk would not turn out to be all crap. That's one of the problems with manufacturers of low-quality media. Sometimes they're good and sometimes they're not.
In the case of Memorex, they may have give CMC some specifications for their disks that make them come out pretty good, while other vendors using CMC may not care, which gives you the crappy ones. You never know.

How's this for an even better deal....

I printed out the page from amazon and brought it to staples.....The matched the price and had to do a slight percentage lower because I found a lower price.

I got the spindle for 27.99. I bought 4 and got them immediately...didn't have to wait for amazon

It would end up costing a little more for me because of my 8.75%sales tax, but at least I would have it right away. Hope this works for me as well. Thanks!

  8. i'm glad you got that PM to work but, for other people's reference, staples' policy for almost the past year has been to reject all PM requests to internet sites. in other words, you got lucky.

DOH...I totally forgot about Staples 110% price matching...but I didnt know they priced match Amazon.com....I guess its up to the store.

I already ordered mine from Amazon for 59.98 and it only took 6 days to get them as opposed to the one dude on here that took forever to get his.

  15. I just got the DVD+R in yesterday....they are made by CMC Magnetics. =(
The 1st blank disc underneath the clear protective disc was useless with a shade of purple while the rest are bluish. I burnt the last disc on the stack with no problems.

A month ago when I first saw this deal they were made by Ricoh.

did you get - or + media? + is usually Ricoh, and - is usually CMC.

  17. It is + (plus). Even the label that goes around the splindle says, "Made in Taiwan".

don't know if that means anything anymore. most dvdrs i get are from there and are Ricoh 01s (memorex, tdk, imation). just this week i got 2 spindles of that orange-top dvd-r 4x discs that's made in Taiwan, and guess what the code is...Ritek G04! not bad at $0.95 per.
so i assume the dye is G04 but there may be other stuff diff from real Ritek media.

  21. again, you got lucky, staples' policy is no price matching to internet stores. perhaps only because this is amazon.com did they make an exception but people should not expect this to necessarily work for them.
