Hello
I purchased an external toshiba ram drive [sd w2002] that came with no software. Innitially, Windows 2000 [professional] recognized the drive but not the ram media--dvd-r and regular dvd media played fine. The drive is connected via a USB 2.0 port. The computer has dual p1.4 xenon processors
After some research, I discovered that Pinnacle Instant cd/dvd supports dvd ram. The ram drive reads the ram discs but does not allow me to remove the file onto my hard drive from windows explorer.
If I use the Instant cd/dvd software the panasonic set top recorded dvd ram disc is converted into a series of vob files.
I am trying to follow one of the many ram menu guides on this forum to add menus from the computer: copy the file name .vro to the computer then rename it either .mpg or .mpeg.
I can see the files in windows explorer but cannot move them into/onto my hd. Windows explorer will freeze.
It seems that after two or three uses of the ram drive, one of three messages will appear: it cannot read the media, to insert media, or pathway not available.
After another search on the internet, I found information that seemed to indicate that Instant cd/dvd will freeze or become non responsive if the computer has dual processors.
I did run a Nortons diagnostic to see if there was any thing wrong with the computer--everything checked out ok.
What software is being used by those who have dvd ram drives that allow windows explorer to read and transfter the information on the disc to the hd?
Has anyone used SA's WriteDvd? The website indicates that the software supports a dual processor pc. I just do not want to buy another software program only to find that it will not work.
I would appreciate any advice that you have.
Thank you for your time and your willingness to help.
John
