  1. Anyone know why sometimes when I'm done encoding an MPG2 with TMPGEnc and I play it in WMP the length of the clip that WMP says is wrong.

For instance, my clip with 43 mins.. BUT WMP says it's only 2 mins long. the clip plays fine and stuff, its just that the the bar that you can use to jump from place to place in the clip doesnt work right..

    Anyone?

lol. usually when the time/length is displayed incorrectly it's mainly because you use Variable BitRate when encoding your MPEG-2 file. even sometimes when using Constant BitRate there has been cases the time/length is incorrect by a few sentences, but it's more noticeable with VBR.

  5. yep.. 2pass VBR.. this phenomenon is random too.. I've done encodes with the same template and the time is OK.. I guess it's no big deal it the clip plays OK, but I would sure like to be able to diagnose it and fix it..

I don't think there's no real way to 'fix it'. But the time/length shows perfectly fine when played in a Standalone DVD Player, whether it's VBR or CBR. Yet again, the time/length is screwy in PowerDVD, Windows Media Player,... basically any software media player. =|

  8. teamhawaii and thawaii,

Same problems here but I have made one more observation - when using hardware decoder (I have Hollywood Plus), the time code is just fine. Its clear that all soft decoders are somehow screwed up in displaying the correct values? I would like to know if you find a way to correct this too.

    Thanks
