Since no one answered your question yet I will tell you that the manual says:

"If your TV has a component video or progressive scan input connector, connect the component or P-SCAN via the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT connections using the three video connecting cords (not supplied). You will get a better picture than CVBS and S-Video."

I know very little about progressive scan but I wouldn't think the CVBS (RCA) outputs or S-Video jacks would be able to provide progressive scan output on any unit.

You can download the manual from:

  3. This link http://www.projectorcentral.com/component.htm will get you up to speed on progressive interlaced and component video.

If any of the moderators read this you should consider a link to projector central at http://www.projectorcentral.com/home.cfm

Great source of free information. Cuts through the crap and confusion out there on the web.

Hope this is of some help

  4. Thanks guys,

I've a Panasonic AE300E projector, which can take progressive (not interlaced) signal for PAL/NTSC and more ....

Based on the infos I read (so far) on the nett .. there were only talking about progressive in NTSC which is 480p, while PAL is 756p. Some mentioned that PAL disc will be converted to 480p then output.

I'm aware of that progressive PAL is difficult to crack (cost money)...

    I might wait a little longer ...

    Have a nice day

I don't have a progressive TV display but from what I've read most of the other DVD players that do PAL to NTSC conversion will output PAL as 480P when you set the DVD to progressive NTSC output.

However such DVD players will NOT output PAL as PAL PROGRESSIVE only PAL INTERLACED.

At least this seems to be the way most DVD players work that have both PAL and NTSC capabilities including PAL to NTSC conversion.

Some players I know that are like this:

    The Malata
The JVC (same chip as Malata)
    The Cyberhome CH-DVD 500
