I'm using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5. I'm trying to encode using stream type SYSTEM instead of ES (Elementary Streams) but when I get to step 5/5, the option to "Output video and audio as indiviual elementary streams" is gray'd out. How do I get the option back to uncheck the box? The "Help" file says something about having to use a DVD template...what is that?

    Thanks,

    Trying to encode WHAT ?

If you don't have both audio and video in the input I suspect that
the program will have a hard time making both separately.

A system stream can have no audio

The audio and video are in the input (.avi)!

I think I just found out by trying different settings that I cannot produce a System stream file (.mpg (audio + video) using PCM audio (which I am using). It has to be ES.

I encoded the .avi file as ES (elementary streams: .m2v & .wav). Then using the MPEG tools, muxed them together. That seemed to work.

A system stream is a multiplexed video with audio stream. This is why you cannot select to output individual ES (Elementary Streams) at the same time.

Now, your explanation is rather confusing. You say that your audio is in the AVI. Then you say you use PCM audio.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  5. It depends on the audio type you pick on the first tab of the wizard.

If you pick PCM, you have to go ES.

Pick MP2 and you can create an MPG with both streams.

Got it now...PCM is ES only. MP2 is SYSTEM. Also figured out that you can't mux PCM audio with MPEGII video. Thanks for the responses.
