Ok, I was installing some RAM, 256 PC133 SDRAM into my Dad's older computer and surprise to me, the memory didn't work. I mean it didn't work. The blue HP screen would come up and the system would just sit there, I pull the stick out and the system boots normally. I can't figure it out. I blew the socket out with compressed air which I should prolly say in BOLD LETTERS, SOME OF THE LIQUID ACTUALLY CAME OUT AND HIT THE SOCKET BUT IT WASN'T MUCH AND IT EVAPORATED INSTANTLY SO I REALLY HOPE THAT THAT WOULDN'T HAVE SCREWED THE SOCKET UP...YOU DON'T THINK THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF MY PROBLEM DO YOU? I tried replacing the stick and over and over again the same exact result. To me, it just doeesn't sound like this Kingston module is compatible with the HP system for some reason. Does this sound possible and if it is I will get him a different brand and return this stick.
Please, any opinions are much appreciated. :P

I don't think the liquid effected anything. As long as the computer was off that is.
I think it is just either a defect stick of memory, or your motherboard does not like that particular one. Or you are using an invalid bank combination. Read the motherboard's user manual and see if its a legal memory combination. Sometimes motherboards wont let you place memory in just any slot."A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct."

Thanks Solarjetman, and FYI the system was completely off when I was working on it so thankfully I'm pretty sure it's the stick/mobo combo. I will look deeper into the specification for his mobo and make sure I get a compatible stick since it doesn't seem like I am going to get anywhere with this one.

Pyrate- might sound kinda stupid, but are you making sure that the modules firmly in and clipped down?
Otherwise it wont be recognised -
It was probably just a RAM/mobo issue. I used to have them.
Some mobo's just don't like certain RAM. If you really want to be sure, go to crucials website and choose the mobo manufacturer and mobo name, and they will show you their compatible memory, and you can buy from them if you want, plus, if it still doesn't work, they will take it back, no hassle. -
Thanks for you help everybody. It turns out the prob. was that it was just a bad stick of memory. So I exchanged it this morning and put it in my Dad's 'puter this evening and voila! Everything worked as it should.
