OK so here's my situation...
I have a file created as m2v that originated in compressor and was made for DVD. It is 2.75 GB and approximately 57 minutes of material. Included is an aiff of 620MB which goes along with the m2v. I want to take these two files and prepare them for one SVCD. In order to fit on to 1 80 min CDR, how do I encode everything properly as to make sure everything fits?
I'm going by the assumption that SVCD only fits 802MB of total material on to a CDR, which would be muxed audio and video. How do I make a calculation so that every thing will fit on 1 or possibly 2 cds?
I'm afraid I don't fully understand the workings of ffmpegX as of yet. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Peace,
Mullet

ffmpegX encodes mpeg-2 in variable bitrate mode, so there is no way of EXACTLY knowing the final size in advance. However, I found that in average you can fit about 45 minutes of SVCD video in a 700MB CDR by using the ffmpegX "SVCD" preset. This can go up to 63 min with the KSVCD preset. You should first convert your AIF file to WAV. Then use the Mux as.. tool to combine the video and audio together (use the MPEG-2 profile). Then encode the resulting big MPG file with the KSVCD preset and it should fit in a single CDR.
