I've been fiddling around with Pinnacle studio 8, but it takes ages...

  2. If you have mpeg1 files i use myflix its the best easy to use and fast

also it is frame accurate that is you can cut to the frame not to a GOP which most do

If you have a mpeg2 file then use M2 edit pro this does both

Not free but, I use mpeg-vcr from www.womble.com. Taking my time (I'm slow) I can edit out all of the commercials from a 30 minute show in about 8-10 minutes.

  4. Eh, ask a million people you'll get 999,999 different answers, but the most comprehensive and proven program for doing with is TMPGenc. It can do the job and do it well. I've never had a problem with it before. To do it you would use the MPEG Tools feature.

As much as I like TMPGENC, WOMBLE is better in my eys because it has a timeline and won't crash on imperfect files (or at least files TMPGENC considers imperfect when they are just fine).

  6. If you are making a DVD use Tmpgenc DVD Author. You can cut out commercials in the same step where you add chapter points. If you capture in an accepted DVD format this is the fastest way.
