Troy,
Do you mean to totally (almost) erase?
I have to find some of them, will post back here when I do.
Almost means that no matter what you do, short of melting the platters down, if you were a spy, they'd go to electron microscopes or somethin to scan to see if a particle was magnetized/oriented, whatever, to signify a 1/0, data.
At least they tell you so, but then they charge many thousands to recover data for "idiots" who erase indiscriminately.
Cheers,
George -
No, I would like a program where I can read a hard drive that has been formated to see what was on previously there before.

You sneaky fellow, you.
That's a bad thing to do.
I had a problem like thar recently. I formatted my daughter's drive, after she told me she had her data all backed up.
Unfortunately, it was backed up to a folder on the desktop, which is a Windows folder, which went bye-bye. I DL'd 6 or 8 programs, they did find the files, but they were unreadable, bad header, or something.
I think possibly the high priced programs may have done it, but am not sure, as the one would recover 25 files at a time, program cost, 100 bucks, or the other would restore, price, 500.
Were I able to try it to see if it actually did get the files, I would have sprung for at least the 100 version. I do have the time for this, getting 25 at a time.
Still, I'll look 'em up, let you know where to get them. No, go to downloads.com, and do a search for "Data Recovery", you should find all that I did, DL them and try them.
Hope you are trying to recover your own data and not be a voyeur.
Cheers,
George -
Get data back dos and get data back ntfs. Can't think of any others.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Well, I've DLd File Recover Demo zip,fr demo, Instant recovery Demo, r2k demo, rsdemo_en_20, and virtuallab.. Plus Ontrack, which is one of the highest priced, yet doesn't allow you to recover anything, only shows you what it says are recovered files, can't open them to see if they really are.
As I said, i tried some that did a recovery, so called, and they were unreadable. If I could open one and read it, or see a photo, I would be happy to buy it. But the cost is non-refundable, it didn't work, too bad. You probably did your recovery and just want to screw us out of the price.
Sorry,
George
