Bought 2 Princo DVD-RW, none of them could record. Erased them indicated 23GB of capacity but you cannot use them at all. Beware of these garbage and those who sell you these garbages will not refund or exchange for other goods!

No problem at all with Memorex (made by Prodisc) and Maxell (made by JVC).

  3. 23 GB? Then you can sell your Princo DVD-RW as a Blu-ray disc for $30

BTW please don't add all DVD players in the list as not working when you're making a comment in the DVD media section because it f*ckups the page.

  4. I had the same problem. Out of 10 discs only 1 was even useable! And that one now will not read AT ALL. Nor will it erase. Total CRAP, avoid.

  6. Is this lg4020b the same model as "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B"?
I have this as a built-in when I bought my Gateway PC but wasn't sure
the exact model. I think this is a 2x DVD-R burner unit. Am I correct?

I have use this on Princo DVD-R but haven't try the Princo DVD-RW.
The only DVD-RW discs that I have tried are IMATION and MEMOREX and
    they burn flawlessly.

  8. wcgl,

Have you run into some Princo DVD-Rs that won't get past 3.8Gg~4.0Gb
mark reliably? I used Nero and with the verify option, there is no problem burning the files but when reading it back to verify, it is usually the last few files that has the CRC errors but oddly some Princo discs that I have have no problem burning up to 4.3Gb max.

Also, do you know if it is possible to upgrade this 4020b burner via firmware upgrade?

    Thanks!

I bought a Princo DVD-RW, a while back. It recorded well. Up to 4.2 Gigs. Played well, too. Only one problem, It won't Erase!! I've tried two methods, so far. I've had the same problem with my Optodisc DVD-RW. It also recorded but won't erase. But I've erased my Pioneer DVD-RWs with no problem. So it has to be the brand of DVD-RWs.

I gotta give ditto's everywhere. I bought a 10-pk of optodisks which turned out to be princos. They burned once, played ok, then I erased them but they would not record a 2nd time. So those dvd-r/w's are now somewhere at the landfill.
Thank you princo for making such a wonderful product!!
I guess one gets what they paid for. princo dvd-r/w are one time use disposable disks!!
I personaly spent the extra money and bought TDK's. And they are awesome. They just go and go and go!!
