  1. Have a couple of m2v files. All are in ntsc svcd format and can burn them straight onto cd with nero if I want...which I do...but, color needs to be corrected in them first. Too dark.

Want to put them through tmpgenc and lighten them, but can't get it to recognize them. "Not supported" keeps saying.

Have tried to rename them and even tried through virtualdub. No go.

    Advice?

You only say "no go" in Virtualdub. So, not sure what you've tried so far.

You can accomplish what you want, most likely, by frameserving through Virtualdub (where you can use various filters) to Tempgenc. There are excellent guides right on this site in the Guides section on the left.

PS. There are also filters available for Virtualdub to blur out logos, something you asked about in another thread, so learning both progs and how to frameserve would be useful to you in that respect too.

You can't open mpg files directly in Vdub without taking a couple other steps beforehand. You'll need 2 other things DVD2Avi and VFAPI. The guides I mentioned will explain how to use. Just search for guides using those programs.

  3. Thank you.
Yes had tried to open directly with Virtualdub and found could not support it.
Know how to frameserve already because of needing to add subs to avi files. So I'm halfway there.
Thanks for the heads up on the logo too. Tried the cropping method like was suggested and didn't like result.

Thanks again for point in right direction. Appreciate it. Will go look at guides.

You want VDUB MOD version to open MPEGS/M2V's. too much light/dark isn't a color correction per se'. If you have what I think you have, it's not going to work very well. You will get a washed out encode with more artifacts than the original.

You're welcome. Pop back if you need any other help once you get into it.

There's a couple filters I like for color correction, brightness/contrast and white balance and logo removal, so you may want to experiment with a few.

    Good luck. Have fun.

PS I couldn't get the VDUB MOD to work for me which is why I go the dvd2avi -> vfapi route. But maybe you'd find VDUB MOD works for you.
