  1. Baldrick,

Since you upgraded, I have gotten the following error twice

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in e:\vcdhelp\www\forum\db\mysql4.php on line 48
    phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Usually just exiting and restarting my browser fixes it. Has anyone else recieved this?

I've been getting it about half the time.

I just submitted a post, got the error, backarrowed, re-submit, and said I had already posted. I had, in fact, but the error msg made me think not.

Methinks the server farm has some bugs to work out.

Baldrick, I know you're working on it, don't mind us.

What I'd like to know is if Tgcmd performed an illegal op because of this site. That popped up as I was typing a reply. Gonna have to shut down to get rid of the box, ctrl-alt-del won't let me, and can't close it.

Yet, this forum works while it's up. I think I'm lost.

Well i would have to say that the win2k is the problem there. The really good unix stuff never ports right to windows.

You could be running on a Mac you know Apache is supported under OSX. And most of the rest of the free BSD ports collection.

Maybe TGPO will throw a fundraiser just to get your server off of windows and onto a Mac

But Redhat would be the way to go. If I knew it better, I'd offer. One board had 1500 people all at the same time, and it only slightly slowed. And that was with dual PIII Xeons in the machine. I think they were 600Mhz. But at the time, the database was on another machine. And all the active threads were kept in ram. I would point you to the site, but it has gone private, so it wouldn't do any good.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
