  1. hi ya'll, i have this problem. ok i have a svcd file which is 805mb and i want to convert it into vcd file. i am using tmpgenc, the prob is when i use the wizard to load the source file at the 2nd step, only the VIDEO file is loaded, but not the AUDIO. i tried using virtualdub n gspot to find out the audio to see if the source has 2 or 5 channels(AC3), but it didnt display the channels..well, i did found out that the audio decoder i have, its MPEG Audio Decoder .....i am cracking my brain over this..i hope someone would help me.....i really appreciated it.

    Well, when it comes to mpeg2, it's the video that TMPGEnc generally has problems with (if the right codec isn't installed).
    I'd demux audio and video in the SVCD mpeg (which most likely is in the correct format for VCD too), then reencode the video only to VCD specs mpeg1, the multiplex the "old" audio with the new video as VideoCD (possibly with the "Non standard" option).
    If the audio file you get when demultiplexing isn't a valid audio format for VCD, just decode to wav (load it into Goldwave and save as wav), then reencode your SVCD mpeg as video source together with your wav as audio source, using the VCD template.

    K, like this:
    Open TPMGEnc. Select MPEG Tools from the file menu. To demultiplex (demux) you select the Simple De-multiplex tab, select your SVCD mpeg as Input, and specify your video file and audio file. SVCD mpegs are actually 2 mpegs rolled into one, one for video and one for audio. They are more easily handled if separated, which demux does. Take the video file and reencode it as mpeg1 to VCD specs.
    Still with me? Fine!
    Multiplex (or mux) is (as you may have guessed) the opposite - here you take a video mpeg and roll it up together with the audio. This is done with the same tool, but select Simple multiplex instead, then choose MPEG-1 Video-CD (or the non-standard version - don't really know what difference it makes), select your video mpeg (that you just reencoded from mpeg2 to mpeg1) as video input and your audio mpeg (from the demuxing stage) as audio input.
    Since VCD audio specifications overlap pretty much with th SVCD audio specs, chances are pretty good that it can be used as audio for your VCD in making. (Take a look under "What Is" for specification details.)
    If not, do as I said before, and turn it into a wav, and use it as audio source while reencoding to VCD mpeg. The muxing is not necessary if you take this course.

  5. yo mats......i cant convert it to wav file. when i demutiplex, i get a m2v file and a mp2 file for audio. i cant get the wav file. plus theres is one file that is 805mb, this file is giving me prob. This file is svcd, i can view the file, but when i demutiplex, it has prob. the file is 805 and i get only 76mb for the video. argh...its giving me headache. Can u teach me how get the wav file?

  6. Try using DVD2AVI from the tools section. Load your mpg2 into it and click "save project". The result is a d2v file (this is your video) and a wav file (this is your audio). You should be able to load these directly into TMPG.

    Brilliant! That's what you need - the MP2 file (That's your audio, right there.)
    Now reencode the m2v (which is video in SVCD format) to m1v (to VCD specs).
    Then multiplex your old MP2 and your new M1V, and you've done your first SVCD to VCD conversion!
    (Given that the MP2 is within VCD specs, which it most often is.)

  9. I dont understand how matts was not as good. Heres what you did:

    Took the SVCD MP2 Audio, converted it to a WAV file, and converted it back to an MP2 with the same specs as the audio you started with. Since it was converted twice, you lose quality...
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  10. ok i am not sayin mats is no good, i tried his method and it works perfectly. Just that there is a certain file for me that it wont work. Also, there is no need to convert the mp2 2 times. All u have to do is, after demux, then use the wizard to follow the rest of the instruction. simple. MATs, big props to ya...thanks
