Hi I have a few questions about capturing VHS C tapes that I have my wedding on What would be better Quality to transfere the video?

    1.VHS camcorder to Mini DV
2.VCR with Adapter to Mini DV

My VCR does not have S-Video Plug

Another Question did VHS Camcorders come with S Video plugs

  2. I am not sure that I understand your question but I will try to answer it.

VHS camcorders do not come with an S-video plug. SVHS camcorders do.

If your digital camcorder has analog in or a passthrough feature: converting to DV does not require anything else but for you to hook your VCR to your miniDV camcorder with RCA cables.

If your goal is to transfer to your computer, you also need a firewire port and cable. If your digital camcorder has a passthrough feature (many Sonys and Canons have it), you do not need a DV tape, you can transfer the DV directly to your computer. You need a program to capture such as DVIO.

  3. Let me take a stab at this.

I think you are asking "what is the best way to get the video off of the VHS-C tape" and onto something else (be it DV tape, or eventually to the computer).

The best way to take VHS-C is to play it on the original camcorder that created it if possible. Second best would be some other VCR transport, either a different VHS-C unit, or a VHS-C to VHS adapter on a standard size VCR.

Having a SVIDEO jack to use is secondary in my opinion to using the original recording platform to play it back on if possible. Otherwise, just connect up the composite video to the DV unit.
