I think its the first to be able to do this, especially for those people with episode dvds, keep the menu, and compress only chapters you want. Hello, finally, I think this is by far the best solution out there. Forget dvdshrink and the rest, (well, maybe not just yet) BUT its well worth it with the new features.

I think I just spend that $150 for blank discs and use DVDShrink 3.

Sounds like this TDF thing is a templet file for backing up specific disc, wonder how thats gonna work out legally.

Well for what it's worth,I downloaded my free upgrade to Platinum yesterday and burned a back up of Aliens Special Edition and Blade2 today.

Extremely user-friendy interface on Platinum,you're presented with a choice of "Advanced" which gives you chapter by chapter customization or "Simple" which is Xcopy XPress.

I'm just learning the program myself so I chose XPress.Combined copy/burn time on my system was 36min for the movie without menus or special features.It fit the entire 2hr 34min movie on one dvd and quality was flawless.

Blade2 is a full 30 min shorter and Xpress was able to fit movie and menus on the dvd in just under 30min burn time.When I get my confidence up I'll experiment with advanced mode.

DVD X Rescue is also included as a free bonus in the download which is $49.95 if purchased seperately.

I wonder how the quality and speed compares to somethink like DVD Shrink ?

Can you load MPEG-1 or 2 files into it for create DVDs ?

Well... the problem is they released the version too early, the president of 321 studios claims to have everyone in the company all working on that product now and many updates will be released shortly.

You are spouse to be able to work with files from your hard drive, but that feature is not yet finished (promised in the next couple of weeks - button is there but is grayed out).
It doesn't currently point out to you what titlesets are the menu/movie/extras and the preview button can't display the menu titlesets.
The compression feature doesn't always fill the entire disc, it will leave a little wasted space, resulting in a slightly higher compression than you should have had (the compression level can be adjusted manually, I have not checked yet to see if this could correct that).

I think the product has some real hope of being a great program but it just isn't there yet. The claims are that this will all be fixed shortly and you will bow before the product in awe... that we shall have to wait and see.

In short, I defiantly would not suggest purchasing the product right now as you will probably be disappointed. But in a few week, or months, it may be a great program only time will tell.

I will run some time/quality tests today against dvdshrink and post the results today.

All I really want to know is if it lets you substitute your own slide for the "Please Insert Disk 2" ugly hardcoded one.

While I own DXDXCopy they never sent me any email about Platinum -- funny, because they *did* tell me about the newest copy of Express when it came out. But I'm not even going to download the new version for free if it doesn't allow for that slide change (because otherwise XCopy works just fine for me -- I don't compress my backups and never will).

Nope, can't change that image. If they ever add that feature I will let you know.

Personally, i'm still using dvdshrink for my main backups, even to split to 2 DVDs (of course, then I just have no message at all).

Does this new version have that annoying 321 Disclaimer that plays at the start of a movie?

I really hope they got rid of that.

It's *so* easy to get rid of that disclaimer I wouldn't even give it a second thought (I bypass it on all my backups -- takes less than 10 seconds).

And I'm absolutely positive they didn't get rid of it in the newest version -- they just about had a heart attack when I suggested to them being able to change the "change disk" screen because they thought I was suggesting getting rid of their warning screen: I was nearly banned from their board.

What is the easiest way to ged rid of the disclaimer? I read one method, but it seemed very complicated.

its so easy with just using ifoedit -- thats all that is required and takes 5 sec's .....

its been posted here many times .. (you do NOT require any other programs)

Yep, as the mod says.

I'm not at my video machine so I can't tell you exact specifics, but the basic procedure is to open up the .TS file (in the VIDEO_TS folder), go to the second line and doubleclick on it (expanding it), select that line and in the box below scroll to the line where the last action is performed (this is easy to see but, as I said, I can't tell you specifics right now). Change this action (right click) to "go to titleset menu" and then select 1, 1, root. Save and you're done.

If you can't get this working email again and I'll write with the specifics (it truly takes less time to do than to explain).

Yes, sorry if I misled you -- I was giving instructions on how to remove the warning screen DVDXCopy puts on the first disk. That's the subject of this thread, DVDXCopy, not using IFOEdit to create a DVD (which can be done, but is considerably more complicated, and would require the use of a ripper to get the VOBs decrypted to your hard drive in the first place).

That warning is just a file called archive.txt on your HD.

No, that's a completely different thing.

The warning is an actual image embedded in the VOB which can be bypassed only by editing the TS file (that has instructions on how to play the VOBs). The txt file is a file that DVDXCopy puts on the burned disks (assuming you let DVDXCopy burn your disks. Hint hint) that keeps DVDXCopy from making a copy of a copy, so to speak. DVDXCopy sees that text file and won't do it. The text file also contains some personal information (another reason why I won't burn it onto my DVDs -- just don't like the whole idea).
