I have an MPEG which I am trying to convert to SVCD, but wont open in either VirtualDub or TMPEGEnc. However, it does open in WinDVD. Any suggestions on an appropriate app or solution?

Is it MPEG2? If so, do you have the MPEG2 plug-in for TMPGEnc? Or the MPEG2 version of VirtualDub (located in the tools section)? Does it pull up an error message when you try to open it with VirtualDub, or TMPGEnc? If so, what does it say?

no, it doesn't seem to me mpeg2, and i have the mpeg plugs for both apps mentioned. The VirtualDub error is MPEG IMport Filter: Pack Synchronisation Error, while TMPGEnc mentions Illegal Video Stream (ech!) or somesuch - Im just converting another file at the mo so can't give specifics...

here we go:
at one point, the error is File *.* is not an MPEG file
at another it is Illegal MPEG Video Stream
and one more: File *.* can not open, or unsupported
